How to allow limited user account change network setting

A limited user is an account that is a member of the local Users group and is not a member of any of the administrative groups. So, limited user does not allow to change any network setting. But it will become trouble for us when we use the laptop with limited user on difference network environment.

Can we allow limited user account change network setting? The answer is yes. You can set the user you want to allow to change IP settings as a member of the local ‘Network Configuration Operators’ group.

How to do that? Below are steps:

1. Launch the Computer Management (Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management shortcut)

2. Under Local Users and Groups, Select Groups. You will see list of user groups.

3. Double click on Network Configuration Operators. An properties screen will prompt out.

4. Under the Members box, you will see list of member under this group. To add new member to this user group, click on Add button. An Select User Screen will prompt out. Enter the user name and click on Check Names to verify the user name and click OK to add user. Eg: techkaki

5. After add the user name, you will see the new user appear on Member box. Eg: techkaki is a new add user.

6. After this, click on OK button.

Now your limited user account should be able to change network setting :-)
