When you try to open comma separated variable (CSV) file on Excel, you will receive a error message “SYLK: file format is not valid.”

This error message occur because of first two characters of the file are letter ID (uppercase). Eg: ID
To solve this problem, please rename the first two characters in the SYLK file before you open it in Excel.
Here are the steps:
- open the CSV file in a text editor.
- Insert an apostrophe (‘) at the beginning of the first line of text or rename the first character from uppercase to lowercase letter.
- On the file menu, click Save. Quit the text editor
- Now you should able to open the CSV file in Excel
