Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your system when setup Windows
i tried to install Windows Server 2003 to my HP Notebook. After booting from the Windows Server 2003 CD, i followed the on screen instruction to press Enter to install the Windows. An error message “Setup did not find any hard disk drives…” prompt out after i press the Enter.

This error occurred because of the Windows Setup does not have a suitable driver on my notebook SATA or SCSI controller.
Solution : change BIOS Configuration
- Enter your BIOS/Setup Utility
- Go to System Configuration -> Device Configurations
- Set SATA native Mode to Disable
- Save & Exit
- Reboot and begin the Windows Setup again.
After changed the BIOS setting, i able to install Windows Server 2003 to my HP laptop. If you have same problem, please try this solution. Your problem should be able to solve

hi,
if i do that, wouldn’t it will take away all my SATA capability? i won’t be able to do a SATA raid with the SATA controller disable, am i right? what about the SATA speed? will i get the same speed with the controller disable?
thx.
After you install the windows, try to install the SATA Compatible driver. I think it should be work.
