Mac OS X Finder tips – Show all files extensions

By default, Mac OS X hire all files extension. If you want to show file extensions, just choose to show extensions for all files.
First, select Preferences from your Finder menu or used the keyboard shortcut <command> + <,> to open Finder Preferences window.
On Finder Preferences windows, click on the Advanced tab. After that, just check the “Show all file extensions” box. All file extensions will now be visible both on the desktop and in open windows.
To hire file extensions
If you want to hide file extensions again, simply uncheck the “Show all file extensions” box.
