How to determine My Computer Processor able to support 64-bit Windows 7 or not?
Windows 7 available in 32- or 64-bit version. You have to make a decision to go for 32-bit or 64-bit before you upgrade from XP or Vista to Windows 7 and I recommend you going for 64-bit. The 64-bit systems handle data and memory more efficiently than 32-bit systems.
To find out which version your computer is using, just follow the following steps:
- Go to Start button
, click Computer and click the System Properties at the top of the window. - In the System area of the box that appears, look next to System Type to see if the computer is running a 32- or 64-bit operating system.
If you have installed Windows 7 32-bit version and you want to see if your computer’s processor can run the 64-bit version of Windows 7, just follow the following steps:
- Go to Start button
, click the Control Panel - In the Search box at the top of the window, just type Performance Information and Tools

- Click on Performance Information and Tools link to link to the Performance Information and Tools box.
- Once Performance Information and Tools box appear, click on the option for “View and print detailed performance and system information.”

- In the System area, look next to 64-bit capable to see if it says “Yes” which means the processor can handle the upgrade.
