Most of the ISP provide customer with a dynamic IP addresses. So, is it possible to access my Sonicwall Firewall (with dynamic public IP) from public network?
The answer is yes. You can use Dynamic DNS to achieve it.
What is Dynamic DNS?
By refer to wikipedia, Dynamic DNS (DDNS or DynDNS) is a method of automatically updating a name server in the Domain Name System (DNS), often in real time, with the active DDNS configuration of its configured hostnames, addresses or other information.
Currently, SonicOS supports three DDNS providers, dyn.com , changeip.com and NO-IP. com.
In my setup, i will use NO-IP.com as my Dynamic DNS. The reason that i choose NO-IP.com is because it is free. Continue reading
