I found a freeware call BGInfo. This software automatically track real-time system information about Windows computer on the desktop’s background, such as the computer name, IP address, service pack version, system uptime, hard drive space and more. It is very convenient especially when you manage several of server.

You also can customize the BGInfo by edit the font and background colors, and can place it in your startup folder so that it runs every boot, or even configure it to display as the background for the logon screen.

Recently i downloaded a eBook in EPUB format. I failed to open it using Adobe Reader (PDF reader) and Chmox (.chm reader). How to open it?? What is EPUB?? After i google it, i know that ePub format is an open standard for ebooks by the International Digital Publishing Forum. All the ePub files have the extension .epub.

There are several software programs support the ePub format. Below are the few software allow you to read .ePub file on your computer. You can just click the following link to download it.

Besides Adobe Digital Editions, i tried to install Firefox add-on called EPUBReader to read ePub-files in the browser. With this Firefox add-on, you can read ePub files on multiple Operating System (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, FreeBSD) without install additional software.

To install this Firefox Add-on, it is very easy to do it. Below are the few simple steps to show how to install it:-

If you open the Windows Task Manager (by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL) you might notice that a process named Jqs.exe is running in the background. It consumes a small part of the memory but surely a useful one. It consumes around 1.5 Megabytes of computer memory and 2 Megabytes of virtual memory. It also initiates I/O processes frequently if those columns are activated in the Task Manager.

So, you might wondering what this process Jqs.exe is and what it is doing in your system. Is it virus??

Jqs.exe is a process related to Java. JQS stand for Java Quick Starter. Java Quick Starter (JQS) improves initial startup time for most Java applets and applications. This feature was added to Java in release Java SE 6 update 10 (6u10) and will be available in all future releases.

Although JQS will improve your Java performance.  It is better to disable it if you not frequently deal with Java applets to keep more of your RAM free especially for those use the slow performance machine.

Steps to disable it

Surely the process is useless for someone who does not deal that frequently with Java applets and thus should disable it.

•    To disable just visit the Control Panel and open the Java entry.

•    Now go to Advanced tab and look for the Miscellaneous entry below.

Steps to disable Java Quick Starter (JQS.exe):

• Click Start.

• Click Control Panel.

• Double click on Java Control Panel.

• Click Advance tab in Java Control Panel.

• Under Miscellaneous entry

• Uncheck the check box for Java Quick Starter.

• Click Apply and Ok. After that, restart your system.

To verify, just open your Windows Task Manager (by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL). You will noticed JQS.exe not appear anymore.:-)

Sysinternals Antivirus is a rogue program. These malware application try to sell you their software by making you think that you PC is infected by the malware. Sysinternals Antivirus is installed through the use of Trojans that display fake security alerts and pop-ups on the computer. While running, Sysinternals Antivirus will scan your computer it detect harmless of Windows system files as malware but will not allow you to remove them until you purchase the program.

How to remove Sysinternals Antivirus?

One of the free anti malware software called Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware can detect and remove this rogue application.

• Download Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware to your desktop.
• Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the on screen instruction to install the program.
• At the end, be sure a check-mark is placed next to the following:
  • Update Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware
  • Launch Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware
• Then click Finish.
• Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. Reboot your computer if prompted.
• When completed, a log will open in Notepad. The rogue application should now be gone.

By default, Mac OS X only able to read NTFS format hard driver. But it cannot write to it, This means we unable to write file size larger than 4GB to hard drives.

I downloaded an ebook from internet. The ebook in .chm extension. I can’t read it in my linux machine.

So, i just install a software called xCHM to read .chm file.  xCHM can show the content tree if one is available, print pages, change font face and size, remember bookmarks, display a searchable index, and search for words in the current page and the whole book.

How to install it? Just follow the following steps:-

a) Login as root user

su -

b) Type the following command to install it

yum install -y xchm

After that, you try to double click the .chm file, you should able to open it with xchm program.
