How to uninstall GUI (Gnome) on CentOS 5/6

centos_logoOne of my CentOS 5 server was mistakenly installed Desktop Environment (GNOME) during the OS installation. Most of the time, i just use Command Line (CLI) to manage the Centos Server. So, i decided to completely to uninstall it in order to save some Hard Disk.

Before you remove all the GUI package,  please disable GUI first. It is because after you remove the Gnome and X Windows,  CentOS will still try to load X Window. If you want to prevent the GUI from loading but want the rest of the system to load as usual, you need to make a change to “/etc/inittab”. (more…)
